As one of New York City’s most iconic landmarks, attracting over 1 million visitors every year, the Empire State Building’s wayfinding system needed to be distinctive while preserving its historic prominence. Two Twelve’s signage and wayfinding system for the lobby and tenant floors helped restore the building to its original visual integrity and splendor. After an expansive survey, Two Twelve collaborated with typographer Christian Schwartz to develop a custom typeface that maintains the building’s Art Deco character. Our designers also worked with illustrator Kevin Dresser to develop bespoke custom icons for signage that reinvigorate the architecture and spirit of the building.
