Founded in 1746, Princeton University has endured as an illustrious private institution for nearly three centuries. Naturally, the ways in which people navigate onto the campus have changed (namely from driving carriages to cars), and we’ve built a long-term relationship with the university to bring their exterior and interior wayfinding into the twenty-first century.
Our strategy started with understanding vehicular and pedestrian navigation on campus. We needed to clearly direct drivers to either the East or West Visitor Parking and indicate all public transit stops. From there, we plotted out how students, their families, faculty, and staff would move around campus and could place our orientation maps and navigational and directional signage, which boasts the school’s distinctive orange and black colors, accordingly.
